CEO Utility Forum

What is the Utility CEO Forum?

The Utility CEO Forums are exclusive, by invitation only, gatherings of African Utility and IPP CEOs within the power sector. The forums provide a unique, dynamic and safe space to discuss challenges from peer to peer, to network and to share best practices in an environment both relaxed and challenging at the same time. The networking and learning platform indeed challenges leaders to lead by example and to look at problems innovatively with a collective approach.

The CEO Forum team engages with CEOs throughout the year to support them in their daily responsibilities with leadership and industry expertise through post-forum reports, monthly newsletters and tailored content developed with and for the members.

The Utility CEO Forum has been successfully running since 2012. Over the years, 64 Utilities have attended our forums. The platform has been growing consistently with a record attendance of 31 Utility CEOs from 17 countries who attended our latest forum co-located with African Utility Week.

We are going virtual!

While navigating through these unprecedented times, ensuring engagement within industry leaders is a key priority. Our stakeholder’s safety is our highest priority and in-line with the universal call to flatten the curve, the Utility CEO Regional Forums will be hosted virtually.

Before COVID-19 changed the way we work and do business forever, most Utility CEOs expressed the need to brainstorm about their biggest challenge: financial sustainability. With the expected financial impacts of the Covid-19 crisis, finding practical and realistic solutions is more important than ever.  Are best practices still applicable? What have we learnt so far?

Theme: Financial Health in the aftermath of Covid-19: lessons learnt and best practices for African Power Utilities.

  • Unique opportunity to brainstorm with Utility CEOs in your region and key developmental partners
  • Feedback on current challenges, green shoots and replicable wins
  • Brainstorming about realistic and practical solutions and establishing a list of the best practices in the region

The Utility CEO Forum is a year-round exclusive network of African Utility CEOs within the power sector, by invitation only. The forum organizes 5 gatherings per year (Africa – Central Africa – East Africa – West Africa – Southern Africa) but it also engages with CEOs throughout the year to support them in their daily responsibilities with leadership and industry expertise (post-forum reports, monthly newsletters, tailored content via WhatsApp and LinkedIn).

The forums provide a unique opportunity for Utility CEOs to:

  • Share best practices and network with their peers
  • Receive support in an environment both relaxed and challenging at the same time.
  • Look at problems innovatively and with a collective approach.
  • Stay up to speed with global leadership trends and access top-level leadership coaching
  • Follow up on actionable solutions at regional forums

Since 2012, the forums have been supported by more than 64 Utility and IPP CEOs over the years:

The utility CEO Forum is only open to Utility CEOs, their executive representative, content facilitators and a few strategic expert partners or facilitators.

We select 10 companies per year to be the Expert Partners of the forums from January to December. The selection is based on the relevance of your expertise and status in the market to the CEO’s current challenges as well as your company philosophy being aligned with the Forum’s approach.
