The direction of African Power & Energy Elites 2019 has been influenced by the guidance and mentorship of four industry experts who have cumulatively been invested in the power and energy journey for many years.

Each player has contributed their informed opinions and dynamism throughout the one-month nomination selection process. Providing a wealth of knowledge – given their diverse skillset and experience – the advisory board’s final selection certainly boasts a group of highly esteemed individuals and projects that are leading the industry through change.

Energy Expert | Development Bank of Southern Africa
Lungile is the energy specialist at the DBSA. Her projects are in gas, coal, renewables and hydro; they are spread across the continent. She holds qualifications in economics, insolvency law, cost engineering and energy. She has worked in the consulting space as well as IPPs, utilities and financing houses.

Principal Engineer | Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
Jarrad is an MScEng(Elec) qualified electrical engineer and registered PrEng with ECSA. He is a member of the SAIEE, CIGRE and IEEE. He has extensive power sector experience in 11 African countries in generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power.

More recently, as a Regional Manager for Energy Exemplar (Africa), his main strategic project was the establishment and expansion of the specialised software company into a respected energy consulting firm and class leading simulation tool of choice for energy market operations/planning in Africa. At the end of 2015 Jarrad took the opportunity to join the newly established CSIR Energy Centre as a Principal Engineer. His passion involving the intersection of technical and economic aspects of power systems has motivated him to pursue his PhD at Wits University.

Editor | ESI Africa
Nicolette has been working in the African power, energy and water sector since 2011, first as content director for African Utility Week, and now as editor of ESI Africa. During her career, which started in the finance industry, she has tracked the trends and young leaders influencing market conditions, and provided a unique platform to profile women in energy.

With her qualification in law, she brings her expertise and passion for corporate governance, sustainability and delivering on the SDGs to the ESI Africa editorial mix.

Electrical Consulting Engineer | KERAM Enterprises
Robert is a Senior Consultant Electrical Engineer and Energy Utility Business Administrator with over 22 years’ experience in the power sector. He has initiated and administered a number of projects and programmes to transform operations at the power distribution companies in Uganda and Rwanda. He has vast experience in Network Performance Management, Network Asset Deployment, Refurbishments and Extensions, Network Operations & Maintenance, Revenue Management and Loss Reduction, Power System Assets Management, Quality Assurance, Business Unit management, Change Management, Access Initiatives and Project Management.

Robert Mubiru holds an MBA from the University of Bradford (UK), a BSc (Hons) Electrical Engineering from Makerere University Kampala and is a certified Renewable Energy Expert.
